AFC U-19 Women’s: Bangladesh to play South Korea in opener on Oct 24

World Desk : Bangladesh to play stronger South Korea in the opening Group-D match of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship 2019 Qualifiers on October 24 at the Republican Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Bangladesh, which was earlier placed in Group D of the AFC women’s meet with South Korea, Chinese Taipei and hosts Tajikistan, will face Chinese Taipei on October 26 and hosts Tajikistan on October 28 in the remaining group matches at the same venue.

Out of 47 AFC member countries, 30 teams are participating in the competition with Japan, North Korea and PR China automatically qualifying for the final round of the tournament in Thailand as three top teams of the 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship.

Thailand, the hosts of the final round, will also play in the main-battle without playing the qualification round.

However, a total of 27 teams, split into six groups– three groups of five teams and three groups of four teams– will play in the qualifying 0round.

Due to the increased number of teams, two qualification rounds were scheduled for the first time—first round billed for October 20-28 this year and the 2nd round scheduled for April 22-30 next year.   UNB
